Marc's Ark Marc & Michele McCoy

Our Great Loop Adventure

Our trawler is a 2006 40 foot Mainship 400.  It is powered by twin 240 Yanmars.  We have a fuel capacity of 300 gallons of diesel, water capacity of 130 gallons and most importantly a holding tank with a 47 gallon capacity.  We have Salon (including Galley with range/oven, microwave and small refrigerator/freezer), Master Stateroom, Guest Stateroom, Head w/shower and Flybridge (including summer galley with electric grill).  We can operate the trawler from both the upper and lower helms.  WE DID IT!  There was enough room for Michele and Captain Marc to survive to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on August (8/26/12) of 2012.  The adventure has helped us grow even closer.
The intention of this blog is to inform our friends and family of our dream of leaving it all behind as we hop on our trawler and cast off for an adventure on the "blue highways".  On August 24, 2011 Michele and Marc departed on a one year journey to explore The Great Loop.  The Great Loop is the continuous waterway that encompasses the eastern potion of North America - including the Mississippi River, the Ohio River, the Tennessee River, the Tenn-Tom Canal, Gulf Coast Intracoastal Waterway, Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Hudson River, Champlain Canal, Richelieu Canal, Rideau Canal, Trent -Servern Canal, North Channel, Georgian Bay, Lake Michigan and the Illinois River.    We completed the Great Loop on September 3rd, 2012 by crossing our wake where the Illinois River flows ever so gracefully into the Mighty Mississippi River.  Please click above on our "Ship's Log" page and review our adventure of a lifetime.
